Municipal Corporations are directly responsible for parochial roads, which comprises two-thirds of the total road network in the country. The parochial road maintenance encompasses the general maintenance of the parochial road network. The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) is the body responsible for the approximately 1,500 Km of agricultural roads across the island.

Audit Objectives

The performance audit will seek to determine whether RADA and selected municipal corporations have effective quality management systems to provide assurance that the parochial and farm road networks and related infrastructure are being constructed and maintained in line with quality standards.

In scoping this study, we have considered carefully how the audit will contribute to the Auditor General’s Department wider strategic aim to promote improvements in the use of public funds through better management over projects, and procurement & contract management.
